SETU Waterford is unusual among the technological universities in that it owns its own student residences — but there's a twist for 2026/27: they've already filled, by lottery, and only a cancellation waiting list remains. The university runs two residences. City Campus (a two-minute walk from the College Street site, fifteen to Cork Road) is the larger one, mostly en-suite and self-catering; College Campus sits right on the Cork Road campus grounds. Allocation is by lottery with a €500 deposit, and the published fees give you a sense of the range — but note these are the most recently published (2025/26) figures, with the new year's schedule due over the summer, so treat them as a guide and confirm before paying. Right now the move is to join the cancellation waiting list (a €300 deposit holds your place), because rooms do free up through the summer, especially after CAO offers.
Outside the residences, SETUStudentPad is the official portal for digs and house shares — typically €120–€160 a week — covering Waterford, Carlow and Wexford. Dedicated commercial student blocks are limited in Waterford, so the university's own residences plus digs do most of the heavy lifting.
Transport is good: city buses (the W routes) serve the campus, JJ Kavanagh coaches stop nearby, and Plunkett Station links Waterford to Dublin via Kilkenny and Carlow. Tramore is only about fifteen minutes away, so some students live at the seaside and commute.
The realistic plan, given the residences are full: get on the cancellation list now, run a StudentPad search in parallel, and be ready to move fast when your CAO offer lands on 26 August, as that's when the most rooms free up.
