TU Dublin is different from the other big universities in one important way: it owns essentially no student halls. So if you're heading to Grangegorman, Blanchardstown or Tallaght, don't wait for a campus accommodation offer that won't come — plan from the start for purpose-built blocks, host-family digs or private rental.
For the full breakdown of every residence, price and deadline, see our TU Dublin accommodation guide.
Don't expect halls — plan for the three real routes
TU Dublin meets housing need through a StudentPad listings service, host-family digs, nearby PBSA and private rental. The upside at Grangegorman is a strong cluster of purpose-built blocks within a short walk, and the campus sits right on the Luas Green Line. For the full options and costs, see our complete TU Dublin accommodation guide.
Host-family digs are the cheapest route
TU Dublin runs an official Host Family programme and explicitly flags it as best value: 5-day digs cost about €559/month (~€130/week) and 7-day digs about €709/month (~€165/week), utilities included. For first-years on a budget, this is the route to look at first.
PBSA near Grangegorman — book early
The main purpose-built blocks are Yugo Ardcairn House (a ~2-minute walk) from around €310/week, and Yugo Highfield Park (~5-minute walk) from around €247/week for a twin. PBSA leases are generally ~41 weeks, average about €1,372/month with bills, and need a guarantor for instalment plans. They sell out early, so book the next year as soon as it opens — free-cancellation deadlines (e.g. before 1 May) let you secure a room before CAO results.
Check your campus, and stay safe
Make sure you know which campus you'll attend — Blanchardstown and Tallaght are suburban and far from the Grangegorman cluster. For private rentals, register on TU Dublin StudentPad and look at Stoneybatter, Phibsborough, Cabra and Smithfield. Verify private lets are RTB-registered, never pay before signing, and read our tenant rights and scams guide. If your home is 30 km or more away you qualify for SUSI's higher non-adjacent rate — see our grants and costs guide.
