TU Dublin says it serves the greater Blanchardstown area, the north and west of Dublin city and county, and students from Meath, Kildare, Cavan and Louth, and offers undergraduate, postgraduate, Springboard+ and part-time courses.

TU Dublin has no on-campus accommodation. Its Student Accommodation Team directs students to TU Dublin StudentPad (https://www.tudublinstudentpad.ie/Students) for digs, private rentals and host families, and names Mezzino Student Living as its purpose-built partner for 2026/27 (details in the Grangegorman guide). Private renting and digs
TU Dublin's Q&A recommends Blanchardstown Village, Corduff, Hartstown, Clonsilla and Mulhuddart (Dublin 15). Its commute guide adds Castleknock, Coolmine, Ongar, Finglas and the city centre, and lists neighbouring-county options including Clonee (bus commute 15 to 25 minutes), Celbridge, Dunboyne, Ratoath, Ashbourne, Navan and Kells (up to about one hour for Navan and Kells). Search on StudentPad (tudublinstudentpad.ie); host-family stays are typically five or seven nights a week, in some cases as little as three days. Rent context (RTB Rent Index, Q1 2026, whole-property average for new tenancies): Fingal €2,269 per month; Dublin overall €2,335.
Getting around
TU Dublin says Blanchardstown is primarily served by Dublin Bus, with no Luas or DART service, (commute guide). Transport for Ireland: a Student or Young Adult Leap Card caps Zone 1 travel at €3.00 a day and €12.00 a week, with a €1.00 90-minute fare in Dublin.
Supports
TU Dublin Student Accommodation Team: [email protected], +353 1 220 5600 (general university line +353 1 220 5000, [email protected]). TU Dublin states students must contact providers or landlords directly to book, and that it "does not vet properties, landlords or homeowners". Published resources include the Student Accommodation Q&A, Cost of Living Guide 2026, RTB Student Renting Handbook, a scam-prevention guide and an Accommodation Wellbeing Toolkit. The Students' Union accommodation guides are at https://tudublinsu.ie/your-welfare/accommodation-guides. TU Dublin financial supports (2026/27): the Rent Assistance Scheme is for students renting formally who do not normally live in Dublin or who live independently for personal circumstances; applications reopened for 2026/27 on Monday 14 September 2026. It is a one-off lump-sum award, needs a lease dated no earlier than 1 August or proof of rent payment, and excludes part-time students (contact [email protected]). The General Student Assistance Fund (average award €1,000, cannot be used for tuition or registration fees; international students not eligible) also reopened on 14 September 2026 ([email protected], 01 220 8556). TU Dublin's Q&A gives mid-October for the Rent Assistance Scheme, which differs from the scheme page; use the scheme page.
Accessibility
Disability Support Service (all campuses): [email protected], +353 1 220 5184; Learning Support Officers are based at Grangegorman, Blanchardstown, Tallaght and Aungier Street. Ask the provider or landlord about adapted rooms before booking. DARE information: https://accesscollege.ie/dare/.
International students
TU Dublin's international-student page advises booking only purpose-built student accommodation from abroad and securing private rentals in person after arrival, to avoid scams, and says a landlord should ask for only one month's rent as deposit. Incoming students without a student number register on StudentPad using '1234' as the student number and email the accommodation team for access confirmation.
Timeline for Sept 2027 entry
- CAO: the 2027 application cycle opens on 5 November 2026. The last cycle's published dates (2026 cycle) were: standard deadline 1 February 17:00, late deadline 1 May 17:00, Leaving Cert results 21 August, first offers 26 August. 2027 deadlines will be on the CAO timetable page.
- Register on StudentPad in July or early August and start looking as soon as possible (TU Dublin Q&A).
Key facts before you pay
Two RTB limits to know: student-specific lets should be no longer than 41 weeks unless you ask for more, and you cannot be asked for more than one month's deposit or, with advance rent, more than two months' rent in total (exception: students paying rent and tuition to the same provider). Landlords must give at least 90 days' notice of a rent review (Citizens Information). Get an inventory and photos of the property's condition before paying.
National guides: https://rtb.ie/renting/types-of-tenancies/student-specific-accommodation/ ; https://www.citizensinformation.ie/en/housing/renting-a-home/tenants-rights-and-responsibilities/tenants-rights-and-obligations/ SUSI applies the adjacent rate of maintenance grant when your normal residence is under 30 km from the college and the non-adjacent rate at 30 km or more, measured by SUSI on Google Maps (SUSI adjacency page). This affects how much grant support you have toward rent.

How to ask the college
- How long is the contract, and what are the exact move-in and move-out dates?
- What's included in the rent (electricity, heating, Wi-Fi, bins, insurance)?
- How much is the deposit, and when and how is it refunded?
- What are the cancellation terms if you don't get your CAO offer or change course?
- Are there rules for first years (priority, distance rules, age limits, lotteries)?
If you don't get a room
- Ask the accommodation office about waiting lists and late availability.
- Use the college's own listing service or students' union listings shown on this page.
- Consider digs (a room in a family home): see the digs and rent-a-room guide.
- Work out whether commuting is realistic using the transport details on this page.
- Start looking in spring. Don't wait for CAO offers in August.
Scam warning
Report any listing with an overseas address, a request to pay before a viewing, or no RTB registration. Read the tenancy rights and scams guide.
