1. At a glance
- Address: ATU Galway City, Wellpark Road, H91 DY9Y, Galway; +353 (0)91 770661; [email protected].
- The creative campus: design, contemporary art, film and documentary, and teacher education in art, design and graphics. CAO 2026 courses tagged Galway in these areas include Art (portfolio), Film and Documentary, Animation and Game Design, Textile and Fashion Design, Interior Design, Graphic Design and Illustration, Product Design, and Education (Art and Design and Communication Graphics).
- Facilities include edit suites, a virtual production studio, animation, XR, recording and film studios, sculpture and ceramic workshops, and a library with quiet study space. It also hosts the CREW Innovation Hub for start-ups.
- Wellpark Road is a separate campus from Dublin Road, but ATU publishes one set of accommodation guidance for Galway City.
2. On-campus / college-owned accommodation
ATU does not run accommodation in Galway City; its guidance for Wellpark Road students is to use the Students' Union room and house list, ATU Studentpad (which has a Wellpark Road campus filter) and the student villages that open bookings in January/February. Private operators provide all student accommodation.
3. Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA)
The operator-run village that describes itself as affiliated with ATU Galway is Glasán Student Village (Ballybane Rd, Galway City, H91 X6EP; +353 (0)91 773333; https://glasan.com/), across the road from the Dublin Road campus.
Glasán 2026/27 (operator site): lease 31 August 2026 to 28 May 2027. Rent per month, nine payments: twin sharing €358.83 (per person), twin en-suite sharing €421.00 (per person), single standard €540.61, single en-suite €602.83, double en-suite €631.52. Utilities of €1,150 are payable on 1 September 2026 on top of rent (includes a €750 electricity prepayment and a €50 non-refundable bill fee). Deposit equals one month's rent. Allocation is by lottery; the 2026/27 window ran 10 to 23 March 2026 and all spaces were reserved. Details are in the Dublin Road guide.
Gort na Coiribe (Headford Rd; [email protected]) is listed by the University of Galway as an off-campus residence. Its 2026/27 lease ran 31 August 2026 to 21 May 2027 (38 weeks) with rent for the year from €4,632.60 (twin, per person) to €6,836.49 (double en-suite, single occupancy), plus utilities, bill fee and electricity charges. See the University of Galway guide for the full breakdown; ATU does not list it.
4. Private renting and digs
- ATU's Galway listing: rooms, apartments and digs at about €450 to €650 a month (ATU accommodation page). Private landlords start listing from late June; student villages open in January/February.
- ATU Studentpad has a dedicated Wellpark Road campus filter: https://www.atustudentpad.ie
- RTB Rent Index, Q1 2026 (published September 2026): Galway City new tenancies €2,004 a month, existing €1,445; Galway county new €1,718, existing €1,303. Mix-adjusted averages per tenancy, not room rents.
5. Getting around
- ATU names Galway city buses 409, 401, 404 and 405 as the routes for students, with journeys of 10 to 30 minutes.
- The Wellpark Road campus page says the campus is a 10-minute city bus ride from the main Galway Bus Station, and lists routes 405 and 409 via Dublin Road (10 minutes' walk away).
- The campus page lists Shannon (Expressway 51), Knock (Bus Éireann Expressway 64) and Dublin (Citylink) airport bus links into Galway.

9. Timeline for Sept 2027 entry
Dates shown are from the 2026/27 cycle.
- January to February: villages open bookings (ATU).
- March: Glasán's 2026/27 window was 10 to 23 March.
- Late June: private landlords list rooms.
- After CAO offers: use Studentpad and waiting lists.
10. Check before paying
- Villages are student specific accommodation under RTB rules: no more than one month's rent as deposit and no more than one month in advance; agreements should not exceed 41 weeks unless you request it. A room in a private house is an ordinary tenancy, and live-in-landlord digs fall outside RTB remit.

How to ask the college
- How long is the contract, and what are the exact move-in and move-out dates?
- What's included in the rent (electricity, heating, Wi-Fi, bins, insurance)?
- How much is the deposit, and when and how is it refunded?
- What are the cancellation terms if you don't get your CAO offer or change course?
- Are there rules for first years (priority, distance rules, age limits, lotteries)?
If you don't get a room
- Ask the accommodation office about waiting lists and late availability.
- Use the college's own listing service or students' union listings shown on this page.
- Consider digs (a room in a family home): see the digs and rent-a-room guide.
- Work out whether commuting is realistic using the transport details on this page.
- Start looking in spring. Don't wait for CAO offers in August.
Scam warning
Report any listing with an overseas address, a request to pay before a viewing, or no RTB registration. Read the tenancy rights and scams guide.
