Killybegs is about 1 hour 15 minutes from the Letterkenny campus and about 3.5 hours' drive from Dublin, Athlone and Galway. Term-time campus hours: Monday and Wednesday 08:00 to 20:30; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 08:00 to 18:00.

2. On-campus / college-owned accommodation

ATU does not run accommodation in Killybegs. It recommends digs, apartments and house shares, found through ATU Studentpad (Killybegs filter) and the Donegal Students' Union, and says some hotels offer student discounts for emergency stays (via the welfare officer).

3. Purpose-built student accommodation

ATU names Ballyraine Apartments as the closest purpose-built option for ATU Donegal; it is in Letterkenny, about 1 hour 15 minutes from Killybegs, so it suits students on the Letterkenny campus (details in the Letterkenny guide). For Killybegs, ATU's recommended route is private digs, apartments and house shares (section 4).

ATU says options are digs, apartments and house shares, and recommends starting to search in late July or early August.

Official rent data (RTB Rent Index Q1 2026, published September 2026): county Donegal standardised average rent for new tenancies €1,107 a month and existing €872 (mix-adjusted per tenancy, county-wide, not Killybegs-specific and not room rents).

5. Getting around

ATU lists the Shore Road bus stop as a 6-minute walk from the campus.
Bus Éireann and McGeehan Coaches run daily services to Killybegs; the bus depot and drop-off point for most private coaches are five to ten minutes' walk from the college. Weekend services are often added by local operators for students and workers who commute weekly (ATU campus page).
Galway to Killybegs is served by Bus Éireann and Feda O'Donnell.

10. Check before paying
