RCSI sits right on St Stephen's Green in the heart of Dublin, and it runs its own student residence, Mercer Court, just two minutes' walk away — a genuine perk for a city-centre medical and health-sciences university. Demand for it is high, so the move is to apply early. Our RCSI accommodation guide covers it and the alternatives.
Mercer Court is two buildings — Millin House and Mercer Apartments — and the 2026/27 rates are published on a 41-week lease running 11 September 2026 to 25 June 2027. A single in the Mercer Apartments works out at €322 a week (about €13,202 for the lease), a twin at €220 a week, while Millin House singles are €332 a week and twins €244. Sharing a twin is the obvious way to cut the cost substantially. A few of the practical details — exactly which bills are bundled, the deposit, and the booking mechanics — aren't spelled out online, so confirm those directly with the accommodation office; the contact is on the hub.
One thing to note about RCSI: its entry routes are mixed — CAO for Irish and EU students, but also Atlantic Bridge and direct routes for others, and graduate-entry medicine — so not everyone is working to the CAO calendar. Whatever your route, apply for Mercer Court as soon as your cycle opens, because the in-house residence is the prized option.
If Mercer Court fills, the city centre around St Stephen's Green is dense with purpose-built blocks and private rentals within walking or short-Luas distance — RCSI's student services advise on private options but won't book for you. Being this central, transport is a non-issue: the St Stephen's Green Luas stop is across the road, and the Student Leap Card's €3/€12 fare cap applies.
For graduate-entry and international students arriving off the standard cycle, sorting accommodation early matters even more — our international and how-to-apply guides walk through the sequence, and it's always worth knowing your tenant rights before signing a city-centre lease.
