The National College of Ireland is in the IFSC in Dublin's Docklands, and while it owns no residence itself, it has an unusually close arrangement: a purpose-built student block, Canvas Mayor Square, sits on the NCI campus grounds. Canvas Mayor Square, run by Greystar, is about as close as student accommodation gets — en-suite rooms with bills included, on-site laundry, 24-hour staff, and Canvas Club access to gyms and study spaces across the company's Dublin residences. Its 2026/27 rooms are open now; prices sit behind the booking system, so contact them for the current rate. A short walk away, Canvas Point Campus in the Point Village is the bigger sister site — all bills included, with an on-site gym and cinema, and the Luas Red Line terminus literally at the door. Again, enquire for prices.
Beyond Canvas, the IFSC, Docklands and Smithfield are the natural neighbourhoods for NCI students, and shared-apartment costs in this part of town tend to run toward the higher end of Dublin rents — broadly €800–€1,300 a month for a room — so it pays to compare. NCI also points students to homestay and digs platforms, which can be cheaper and gentler for first year.
Transport is excellent: the Luas Red Line runs through the IFSC (the Mayor Square–NCI stop is on the line), with DART and rail at nearby Connolly, and the Student Leap Card's €3/€12 cap applies across all of it.
So for NCI the easiest route is genuinely the closest one — book Canvas Mayor Square or Point Campus early, since both are popular and prices come via enquiry. If you go private, work out your budget first, view before committing, and lean on the Student Assistance Fund and grants if cost is a barrier. Know your tenant rights before you sign.
