Marino Institute of Education, on Griffith Avenue in Dublin 9, is a small teacher-education college associated with Trinity — and it has a real advantage: on-campus apartments, operated by eber, with a Dublin Bus stop directly opposite the gates. There's also a means-tested scheme that makes those rooms genuinely affordable for students who qualify. Our Marino accommodation guide explains both.
The on-campus apartments are all en-suite, with electricity, heating, WiFi and even contents insurance included in the rent, plus a residence team and 24/7 security. Standard eber rates come via the booking system, so you'll enquire for the current figure — but the headline worth knowing is the MIE Student Accommodation Scheme, a means-tested option for economically disadvantaged first-years offering a small number of single rooms at €166 a week and twin beds at €130 a week, with applications opening in autumn 2026. There's a €920 deposit and a non-refundable administration fee to budget for (the eber pages show slightly different figures for that fee, so confirm the exact amount when you book), plus a refund safety net if you don't get the CAO points for Marino as your first choice.
If the on-campus rooms are full — and they're limited — the college points students to off-campus listings in Marino, Fairview, Drumcondra and Clontarf, all close by. These are pleasant, well-connected north-city neighbourhoods.
Transport is simple: the bus stop opposite the gates, DART at nearby Clontarf Road and Fairview, and the Student Leap Card's €3/€12 fare cap across the Dublin network.
So for Marino: apply for the on-campus eber apartments early, and if money is tight, watch for the means-tested scheme opening in autumn and apply the moment it does. One practical note for B.Ed. students — your school-placement terms can affect how long you actually need a room, so check the dates before signing a full-year lease. As always, view before you pay and know your rights and the supports available.
