Study in Sweden from Ireland
Our database has 56 Swedish programme rows. All are in the other-courses list, and there are no health programmes. Universityadmissions.se publishes an Ireland page that sets one Leaving Certificate rule for the whole country. Tuition is published as 0 for EU/EEA citizens. The first-round deadline for autumn 2027 is 15 January 2027. Programmes then add their own subject requirements in Swedish course levels, and a few add tests or interviews.
How an Irish student gets in
Leaving Certificate rule. The Universityadmissions.se Ireland page asks for the Leaving Certificate with at least six subjects, of which at least two are Higher Level. Programmes then list subject levels in Swedish course terms, such as Mathematics 3b or 3c. Most programme pages say Irish equivalence is not published. Jönköping University is an exception. It states English 6 equals Ordinary Level, Mathematics 3b equals Ordinary Level, Mathematics 5 equals Higher Level, and Physics 2 and Chemistry 2 equal Higher Level.
Results. 54 of the 56 rows state that completed results are required and predicted grades are not accepted. The Stockholm School of Economics (SSE) is different: it lists predicted or final grades, due by 1 February 2027.
English. Ordinary Level Grade 6 or D in Leaving Cert English meets the English requirement. KTH also accepts IELTS 6.5 with no section below 5.5, or TOEFL.
Documents. Upload to Universityadmissions.se the record of completed Leaving Certificate results and a copy of the passport photo page. No translation is required for Irish documents issued in English. Names and birthdates must match across documents. Supporting documents are due 1 February 2027.
Selection and tests. The University of Gothenburg fills 66% of seats on grades and 34% on SweSAT, which is not mandatory. Skövde uses 67% and 33%. Uppsala Campus Gotland selects on completed grades. KTH offers no entrance tests. SSE requires SAT 1300, ACT 28 or ITB-Business 112, a minimum GPA of 2.8 on the 7-1 scale, passed Ordinary Level English, passed Mathematics at either level, and a digital interview in mid-February 2027. Stockholm University of the Arts asks for a qualification test. Umeå Institute of Design asks for work samples, a motivation letter and interviews.
What it costs
Tuition. Rows publish 0 for EU/EEA citizens. Some state SEK, for example "0 SEK" at the University of Gothenburg, Skövde and Uppsala Campus Gotland. Others state "0" without a currency. No academic year is given.
