Our database holds 98 Spain rows: 8 health programmes and 90 other courses. Most of the 90 are English-taught bachelors in business, economics, international relations and communication. Medicine is available in Spanish at UCAM and Universidad Europea de Madrid, and in a bilingual English-Spanish stream at CEU Valencia. Published fees include EUR 1,015.20 per 60-credit course at UC3M (2026/27, EU and Spanish nationals) and EUR 45,120 per year at IE University. Two universities publish Leaving Cert rules.
How an Irish student gets in
Leaving Cert rules. Only two universities in our data publish a Leaving Cert grade rule.
- Esade (Barcelona). The Leaving Cert must include at least 6 subjects and a minimum of 240 points. At least 2 of the 6 must be Higher Level (H1-H7), and the rest may be Ordinary Level (O1-O6). The same page also says at least 3 Higher Level subjects are compulsory for Irish and Scottish qualifications. The two statements differ, so ask Esade which applies.
- IE University (Segovia and Madrid). IE says it typically requires a minimum of 6 Higher Level subjects and at least 520 CAO points.
For the other universities we found no Leaving Cert grade rule. Check the university's international admissions page (links in Sources). What they do publish:
- UC3M. No threshold. UNEDasiss converts your result to a 10-point scale. The 2026/27 first-deadline cut-off on the 14-point scale was 11.677 for Data Science and Engineering. UC3M says cut-offs are only indicative for 2027/28.
- UPV/EHU. No Irish-specific threshold. The 2026/27 pass mark for its Business and Economics double degree was 11.990 out of 14.
- Comillas. No cut-off. It looks at your last three school years and an admission test.
- Deusto. An average of Notable (7) or higher in first-year Baccalaureate or equivalent. No Leaving Cert conversion is published.
The UNED credential. Many universities in the rows ask for a UNED accreditation (UNEDasiss), which converts your grades to the Spanish scale. Blanquerna says you cannot enrol without it, and UCAM requires it for EU school-leaving qualifications. UNEDasiss gives Irish applicants with predicted grades a provisional accreditation until final results are sent. Universidad Europea de Madrid allows 30 calendar days from the start of classes if the credential is not yet available.
Tests and interviews.
- Esade: its own test (information, numerical, logical and a 75-minute English test) or SAT/ACT. Interview only if the committee asks.
- IE: IE Admissions Test, or SAT, ACT or LNAT, plus an online assessment, an essay, a recommendation letter and a personal interview.
English proof. Esade may exempt you if English was the main language of your last 2.5 years of secondary school in Ireland (committee decision). IE needs no certificate if you studied in an English-speaking system for the last two years of school, but its page does not name the Leaving Cert. UC3M and Deusto require B2.
Medicine. UCAM's 2026/27 sheet lists a quota for students who sat the Spanish PAU and one for transfers. It names no quota or ranking rule for the Leaving Cert. Universidad Europea de Madrid asks foreign-system applicants for at least 3 of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology and names no Leaving Cert grades.
What it costs
First-year figures as published. Where the page gives no academic year, we say so.
- UC3M (public): EUR 1,015.20 per 60-credit course for Business Administration, Economics and International Studies (English options), and EUR 1,165.80 to EUR 1,240.80 for the engineering degrees. All 2026/27, EU and Spanish nationals; administrative fee, insurance and file opening extra.
- UPF (public): EUR 1,202.32 for ordinary first-year registration, EU citizens, 2026-2027. The page gives EUR 6,800.32 for "non-EU or non-resident" and does not say which applies to an Irish student living in Ireland. Ask.
- Valencia and UPV/EHU (public): EUR 12.79 and EUR 13.72 per ECTS credit respectively, with no annual total or year stated.
- Private, business and related: ESCI-UPF EUR 8,280 (2026/27); Deusto EUR 10,800 (2027/28); Blanquerna EUR 12,054.60 (2026-27); Universidad Europea de Madrid EUR 12,720 for Marketing (2026/27); Comillas EUR 14,305.20 for Global Communication (year not stated); Esade EUR 21,300 to EUR 24,500; IE University EUR 27,300 to EUR 45,120 (Esade and IE: year not stated).

Accommodation (per month, as published):
- UC3M residences, 2026/27, VAT not included, university prices. Getafe: EUR 650 to EUR 830 accommodation only, EUR 1,010 to EUR 1,190 full board. Leganés, full board: EUR 872 (double) or EUR 1,075 (single).
- Universidad Europea de Madrid: a studio in Madrid, EUR 800 to EUR 1,500 (university guide, undated, private rent).
- IE University, private rent ranges it publishes (PDFs created March 2025, no academic year). Madrid: shared room EUR 600 to 1,100, studio EUR 800 to 1,600. Segovia: shared room EUR 400 to 600, apartment EUR 500 to 900.
- Esade: shared room in Barcelona EUR 500 to EUR 700. Not a university price; Esade has no student housing of its own, per its page.

- IE University (2027-28 intake): Round 1 6 Nov 2026, Round 2 15 Jan 2027, Round 3 5 Mar 2027.
- Esade (September 2027): rolling, open until June 2027 while places remain.
- Deusto (2027-28): 2 to 30 November 2026.
- Comillas (2027): first call 13 Jan 2027 (tests 30 Jan). Later calls 29 Mar, 11 Jun and 11 Jul 2027. ICADE second call 14 Apr 2027.
- UC3M (2026/27 cycle, latest published): ordinary call 5 to 26 June 2026; foreign education systems until 6 July 2026, 14:00. 2027 dates are not published.

Language: UC3M's Business Administration option is Spanish and English, the Universidad Europea Marketing and Sport Sciences rows offer English or Spanish groups, and Valencia has English and Spanish groups. The rest are English. Partly verified rows mostly lack 2027 dates, a fee year or an Irish grade rule, as the dashes and "year not stated" show.
Things that catch Irish students out
- UNED credential. Blanquerna says you cannot enrol without it. Apply for UNEDasiss accreditation early.
- Sworn translation. UCAM requires a sworn translation (traducción jurada) of documents from EU countries.
- Mandatory tests. Universidad Europea de Madrid's English test applies whatever certificates you hold.
- Two Leaving Cert rules at Esade. The page states "at least 2" and "at least 3" Higher Level subjects.
- Fees without a year. Esade, IE, Comillas, Valencia, UPV/EHU and UCAM publish some fees with no academic year in our data. Ask for the 2027/28 figure.
- Deadlines from older cycles. UC3M's June and July dates are for 2026/27 and have passed.
- CEU Veterinary total. The published first-year total does not match the table components.
